Approved by the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency and established in 2012, we cover the Glastonbury, Street, Wells, Bridgwater, Somerton, Yeovil, Langport, Taunton and Shepton Mallet areas but are happy to accept students from all over Somerset and Sedgemoor.

About our motorcycle training centre 

Toucan Motorcycle Training is a motorcycle training school based in Glastonbury, Somerset. We provide quality CBT (Compulsory Basic Training), A1, A2 and Direct Access (A licence/DAS) training and back to biking and advanced motorcycle courses with our highly skilled, professional instructors. Our customers safety is our highest priority. We are probably one of the largest training sites in the South West. Other schools may try and imitate us but there is only one Toucan. It is essential to get the best training you can find whether you are a complete beginner taking a CBT or returning to riding after a few years and you want to brush up on your riding skills.

Andy Litston

The owner, Andy Litston , has been riding since the tender age of sixteen when he could fill up his FS1E Yamaha (affectionately known as a fizzy) for 50 pence! Which means he has over 49 years of experience. After working for other schools in Frome and Yeovil for five years, he decided to start his own school in his local area. Andy qualified as an instructor in 2007 and teaches CBT, A1, A2, DVSA/Direct Access (Full Bike Licence) and Back to Biking .

3 – 4 days depending on students experience and ability, for people who can already ride it can be done in under 3 days if you already have your CBT plus tests. Training is available hourly if required, please call for details.


You will get 6 hours actual riding time not including breaks for each full day training.


Additional tuition £40 per hour, two to one, or £50 per hour one to one.


Normal training ratios are 2 students to 1 instructor on all our courses.


Mod 1 test fee is £15.50, Mod 2 test is £75.


DVSA off road Mod 1 training site is £31 per hour.


Price of courses includes use of schools up to date equipment, fuel and insurance.

Helmets, jackets, trousers, gloves and waterproofs if needed.

Discount is available if you prefer to use your own bike.

One to one training available on request, ask for details.

Our instructors are friendly, patient and strive to deliver courses which are not only informative but extremely enjoyable. Each course is tailored to the individuals needs and we offer a sensitive, no pressure approach with one to one training available on request. Because we endeavor not to mix ages or abilities in our group courses it is essential that you give us an accurate history of your experience or skill level, so you will be trained with students of a similar ability.
